The Facts
P.G. County Labeled a Food Desert
FACT 1.
Prince George's County has been labeled a "food desert" by the
USDA, meaning its residents do not have sufficient access to groceries or fresh food.
FACT 2.
"Despite the fact that we have the highest concentration of African
American wealth here in Prince George's County, we also have
deep pockets of poverty," Brian Smedley, director of Place Matters.

Community Garden A Crime Deterrent
County police have seen a
rash of car jackings in recent months. Of 54 suspects arrested for the crimes this year, 37 have been juveniles, police said.
